I love having this on the iPhone. Let me say that right up front. Ive been wanting it for years. But it is buggy. The keyboard pops up in weird places, my cursor jumps around randomly, capitalization doesnt even work right. Its so bug you that its almost unusable for me.
I have been a consistent and heavy user of OmniOutliner on the Mac for over 10 years, and I have been using this iPad version for around 8 months. The developers have completely duplicated the experience of the desktop app here on the iPad. It runs great, syncs reliably, and all of the functions I look for are there, in the places I expect to find them. I would prefer if the app could sync with iCloud Drive instead of Omnis own sync server, but this is not a big gripe and overall I am very happy with the app. I get a lot of use out of it and it does everything I expected.
I cant really use this on iPhone. The soft keyboard shows up at the top of the screen. It only shows up correctly in landscape mode, but then the backspace key doesnt work.
One of my favorite apps. I use this as a way to organize projects (including budget), from cleaning the garage, to taking inventory of valuables, to writing outlines of oral and written presentations, to creating travel itineraries (costs, hotel and metro info, maps, etc). Watch the training videos theyve made and read the help file to discover the main functionalities of this outliner. Brainstorm your ideas, add in other info, then reorganize into a structure that will help you get things done more efficiently. Add columns that help you track dates or subtotal expenses or the status of a To Do item. Plus, the aesthetics are very very nice. You can export your creations to dynamic htmls so that others can view your outline, complete with collapsing/expanding markers that allow you to present major points first but then expose sub items to give further details (excellent for oral presentations). Ive tried all the outliners and this is my favorite.
OmniOutliner is my only when it comes to list creation. Outstanding and flex able to adapt to your needs. Buy once and be done with your search.
I have been a big fan of Omni Outliner on the Mac for a long time. Problem 1. When working on a project, I put links to web sites in my outline. That way I can find them quickly. Click on the link, and the page opens in the browser. However, with the iOS versions the links do not work!! They do not even show the original text! If they did, I could copy the text and paste them into a Browser. Really limits the usefulness of the iOS version. Problem 2. The cloud sync / transfer of files does not work. Beta indeed!
This is a very useful app for some planning but it is a steep climb (think Mt Denali) to learning how to use it comfortably and I doubt I will ever get there. Syncing with your computer is a nightmare on wheels and the instructions offered will not get you there. If you like puzzles you may like app. And one final point: if you inadvertently add a line and want to delete it, the developers of this app have made that about as difficult as ever possible. It can be done, but I challenge you to find out how. Come on guys, make this potentially very good app, just good!
Could be great, but there are too many problems to be usable. How in the heck do you delete a line? Should be simple, its not. Tried 2 column, backspace does not work, return does not work. Sigh.
I purchased Outliner a few months ago and have really grown to rely on it daily. I can build lists and customize the formatting, add columns as necessary, and keep track of everything really easily with this program. I had been using Workflowy as my outliner, but the $50 annual fee seemed high to me (although I really like Workflowys simplicity a lot). So I began researching other outlining app alternatives. Not only does Omni Outliner provide both Mac and iPad/iPhone versions that sync, the versatility of Outliner is much greater than Workflowy and provides much more formatting styles and customization. If you need an outliner, I cant imagine that OmniOutliner not suiting your needs. It certainly meets mine. Highly recommended!
The Omni Group once again improves their already amazing applications. 3D Touch is a game changer on the 6s. If you need an app for simple lists to the most complex this is the app for you. Well worth the money.
No longer works after installing OS9 As expensive as this app is, you would think the developer would be acutely aware of these issues with OS9. Im sure there are people who use this on a day to day basis. Not being able to access any of my work is inexcusable on the developers part. Apple should consider allowing users to revert back to the previous version for instances just like this.
DONT UPDATE! READ REVIEWS RE THIS UPDATE. AFTER UPDATING APP WILL NO LONGER OPEN. MAKE SURE U UPLOAD ALL YOUR FILES BEFORE USING THIS UPDATE!!
Omnis apps are expensive and sometimes expensive upgrades I wish I didnt have to pay but the quality is great, there are a lot of features I dont use though
Way way overpriced...
Huge Omni-supporter. I have and use the Omni apps on my desktop & iOS devices. For me personally, OmniOutliner is the most useful and critical application in their arsenal of powerhouse GTD software. But this app specifically crashes upon opening it each and every time on any iOS device - and I honestly cant remember you when the last time it actually worked on an iOS platform, but it was definitely before iOS 8.3 or so. If you rely on this software or enjoy it on your Mac, wait until they fix the iOS version - which...they dont seem too focused on at the moment. Just as long as people keep paying so much money, theyre happy to not fix this it seems.
I cannot start the app. It crashed every time.
Ive been a long time user of Outliner for Mac. It plays such a pivotal role in my writing that I cant imagine writing without it. This is an excellent iOS port that allows me to read, edit, and create my outlines. For me, its an absolute essential.
This program works great but I wish it supported air printing. Or at least an export to PDF option. I dont need it with every outline, but there are times I need my work on paper.
The Omni Group continues to be one of my favorite Apple-ecosystem developers. With OmniOutliner 2, they have released the best note taking app for iOS. I use it in conjunction with OmniOutliner for OSX. With Omnipresence, documents are sync effortlessly between multiple iPads, an iMac, and a MacBook. Five+ stars.
